How PlusSocial differs

How PlusSocial differs from the usual social network

Not a longer feature list — a different set of choices.

What you see first

An algorithm picks what keeps you scrolling — usually whatever makes you angry.
Plain, chronological order, filtered only by the settings you chose yourself.

Signing up

Your email, phone number and contacts, fed into advertising profiles.
A username and password is enough — or Google sign-in if you prefer. No contacts uploaded, no tracking.

Who can reach you

Anyone can message or call you until you block them, one by one.
Calls and messages only from connections you have both approved.

Difficult content

Reported, then removed or not — with nothing in between.
Your Shield softens, blurs or hides it for you, while a person handles real rule-breaking.

When it gets too much

Log off, or keep scrolling.
Calm Space: breathing, ambient sound and twelve quiet games, right inside the app.

Money

Adverts, data sales and paywalled basics.
Free in beta. Subject communities stay free forever, and causes are paid direct with no cut.

Accessibility statement

PlusSocial aims to meet WCAG 2.2 AA and the accessibility expectations set out in the European Accessibility Act. This is what is in place today. If something is not working for you, tell us and we will fix it.

Perceivable

Read-aloud for posts, news and guides; text alternatives on images; high-contrast and dark appearances; reading-comfort spacing and lettering; content reflows without horizontal scrolling down to narrow phone widths.

Operable

Full keyboard navigation with visible focus; no time limits on reading; a sensory preset that reduces motion and density, and full respect for the system reduce-motion setting; no flashing content.

Understandable

Plain language throughout; full-site translation including right-to-left languages; predictable navigation; errors described in words rather than codes.

Robust

Semantic headings, landmarks and labels so screen readers and other assistive technology can move through every page.

Alternatives to speech and typing

Speech-to-text for writing posts, live captions inside calls, and type-to-talk so nobody has to speak in order to take part.

Privacy as accessibility

Sign-up needs a username and password only — no name, email, phone number or contacts — so nobody is excluded for lacking documents, an address or a phone.
